It's been a very interesting year. A lot has happened since Convention. In February, we moved into a new space at Explore Creative Learning Center. It has been an adjustment, moving down the road and into a bigger building. Explore also holds dance, and art classes as well as a variety of private instrument lessons. Sometimes it can get a little crowded in the lobby.
Everyone at Explore has been very kind and generous during our move and our adjustment to this new adventure. You can still reach any of us at the old number and our old contact information will stay the same for now, just the building location is different.
Summer is starting up, and Explore offers a large variety of summer camps.
Please come out and visit us in our new space at Explore, 6801 Falls of Neuse in Raleigh!

Well we just finished a wonderful weekend at our Kindermusik Convention, here in Raleigh, NC. It was great having Convention in our backyard, we learned so much. Thanks again to all of the families that participated in our Demo Classes, we really appreciated it! And we hope that everyone to advantage of the tickets to see Skip Ewing on Thursday night. It was a lot of fun singing and dancing with him.
We also wanted to send out Congratulations to Haley Sheehan for placing 10th chair in All-County Band this year!

It seems like the semester just started, but we're already 3/4 of the way through. The Holidays are fast approaching, and we will have some of our KM graduates performing during the State Capitol Tree Lighting December 10th. Please come on down to the Capitol building for all of the festivities! More performances will be added, so make sure to check back frequently!

We've just begun the Fall Semester here at Sound and Motion! We still have plenty of space available in our Village, Imagine That! and Young Child Classes. We also have room in Our Time, but spaces are limited, so please call for times and days still available.
This semester we will be doing a lot of movement during Zoom-Buggy in Village along with lots of cuddling during Dream Pillow in Village. In Our Time, it's all about activities around the house during Milk & Cookies. During Hello Weather! in our Imagine That! classes, we will explore different weather scenarios, like windy walks, and imaginary snowball fights.
Please call today to see which class would best fit your child! 919-874-0708 or http://www.kmsam.com

We've had lots of reasons to celebrate during springtime. Three of our flute students; Jessica Corley, Lauren Gamble, and Jenny Felder, have just graduated high school this spring. And if that weren't enough, another Kindermusik graduate, Nathan Honaker has performed at Cernegie Hall for the second year in a row. Here are just a few of the pictures from our Spring Celebration.

This month is Asian Pacific American Heritage Month. I wanted to draw attention to this because I've noticed some of our families come from this area of the world. One of our very own educators is also of Asian decent. This month is all about celebrating and recognizing achievements made by Asian Pacific Americans. This month was chosen because this was when the first Japanese immigrants came to America in 1843, and when the transcontinental railroad was finished by many Chinese laborers in 1869.

One of our own educators at the studio is Asian, as well as adopted. Here you can see a picture of her and her adopted sister, both born in Korea. The first set of pictures are baby pictures, and the latter, are pictures taken more recently.

Well it's the end of the spring semester at Sound and Motion. I find it hard to believe that summer is almost upon us. I just wanted to share some of the memorable moments during some of our Kindermusik classes that I witnessed the other day...

I also wanted to share a recent conversation between mother and daughter and their love of Kindermusik with Miss Diane:

Good morning dear Diane,
I just read the newsletter & wanted to share yesterday's conversation about that infectious Kmusik enthusiasm.
(it's after Musik class, we're in the car picking up sister)

Mom: "How did class go?"
Daughter: "Good. Um, if I didn't live with you, I would live with Ms. Diane."
Mom: "Oh, would you?"
Daugher: "Yes, it's called adoption and I would be adopted."
Mom: "Really? Adoption? What do you know about that?"
Daugher: "I don't know."
Mom: "What made you decide this?"
Daugher: "I just want to."
Mom: "Alright, well thank you for telling me."
Daugher: "Mm-hmm."

So there it is. You know how much the adults adore you, but I bet you have no idea how much the kids do too! Have a wonderful weekend.

May 19th and 20th is our year-end celebration. This year is extra special because we would like to honor 3 of our Kindermusik graduates. These 3 students joined our program when they were about 3 or 4 years old, and are now graduating high school! Luckily, they have agreed to perform one last time during Monday's celebration.
During a recent rehearsal, it was evident how integral Kindermusik was to their ability to put a piece together. They were able to listen and blend their sound, intonation, articulation, and breaths. It was just amazing the level of mature musicianship skills these girls have acquired, that are far beyond their actual years of age.

We have been honored to watch them grow, and wish them the best of luck for the future: Lauren at North Carolina State University in Elementary Education, Jenny at North Carolina State University in Electrical Engineering, and Jessica at East Carolina University in Biology.

Today is Earth Day.

Bring cloth bags to the grocery store instead of getting more paper or plastic bags, install low-flow shower heads, or find plants that are drought-resistant to plant in a garden today. I know today isn't going to be ideal to walk, in the Raleigh area, but if you live where it's sunny, walk instead of driving in the car, or take the bus.

There is a lot we can do, even in something small and simple to keep our planet just a little greener.
